About Project

Stora Enso Oyj is a Finnish pulp and paper manufacturer, formed by the merger of Swedish mining and forestry products company Stora and Finnish forestry products company Enso-Gutzeit Oy in 1998. It is headquartered in Helsinki, and it has approximately 29,000 employees. Business applications are the life-blood of any company. This is where data is stored and processed.

There were several independent applications constitute separate silos, as they were disconnected from other systems. Moreover, these Systems of Record worked fine until an exception occurs and humans need to intervene and communicate and collaborate with others. As these transactional systems do not have an interface to support these human interactions, employees need to revert back to communication channels like email or IM. This often results in loss of organizational knowledge (because knowledge is not accessible to others) and communication out of context. One of the key pillars of the Stora Enso portal is therefore to connect the application silos in a better way and allow employees to communicate and collaborate within the context of the right data and application.

Analytics: Analytics plays an important role for Stora Enso Employee Connect app. The user experience has to be influncial enough to present data from various subsystem as well as social context.
